2022 Summer Interns Visit The Whistler in Tech Square

What better way to say goodbye to our amazing 2022 summer interns than taking them on a field trip? The group set out from the office to Midtown Atlanta’s Tech Square neighborhood and visited the site of our new student housing project, Whistler! Currently under construction, the mixed-use tower will offer 565 beds and 168 units. Just a quarter-mile from Georgia Tech, the development will rise 25 stories along Spring Street. “The Whistler was a fun project to visit as it was still under construction and allowed all of us to better understand how design is brought into real life,” said Architecture Intern Danielle Lanier.

Led by Project Designer (and Georgia Tech alum) Vivianne Hutt, the group was exposed to different construction phases during the tour. “We got to see a little of everything,” said Landscape Architecture Intern Sylvia Bui. “Every level was a different phase of completion. They were getting ready to pour the slab for level 16, so we went to the top and saw the framing for that. The bottom few levels had drywall complete, so we got to walk some units. It was really cool to see the steps of construction as we went through each floor!”

The Whistler is the latest addition to Tech Square, Midtown Atlanta’s hub for startups, tech companies and research centers, and an easy walk to Georgia Tech, restaurants, and retail shopping. Along with a prime location, The Whistler will also be amenity-rich with a top-floor fitness center, a club room on the 24th floor, an expansive study mezzanine, and a rooftop pool deck offering panoramic views of the city. We can’t wait to see this exciting development complete in 2023!
